Police Support Launch of Sevenoaks East-West Active Travel Route

On Saturday 11th October, officers from Sevenoaks Community Safety unit assisted Sevenoaks District Council in launching the new East-West walking, wheeling, and cycle route. The event marked the opening of a two-mile dedicated path connecting the eastern and western parts of Sevenoaks, designed to promote safe and sustainable travel.

Police led two groups of cyclists along the route, which runs from Wildernesse in the east to Riverhead in the west, passing key local schools including Knole Academy, Sevenoaks Primary School, Riverhead Infants, and Amherst School. The route also improves access to Sevenoaks Rail Station and offers a practical alternative to car travel for short journeys.

PC Nick Hubbard, from the Community Safety Unit, said:

“This was a great event to connect with the local community. Officers from the Community Safety Unit were able to offer some very bespoke crime prevention advice to keen cyclists and we were able to mark many bikes free of charge. It was great to see so many attendees, young and old, a very worthwhile event.”
